Have you heard the news?

Two women were killed this week in Serbia.

Or maybe it would be fair saying that two men killed their (ex)wives this week in Serbia.

👉🏻This was the 22nd and the 23rd femicide this year. Almost as a rule, media in Serbia give all the information about the victim.

❗️On the other hand, only the initials are known of the perpetrator.

✋🏻Of course, the principle of the presumption of innocence has to be respected, but does that mean that the privacy and dignity of the victim and their families shouldn’t?

⚠️We urge the media to report ethically and morally and to use these opportunities where the public’s attention is focused on the cases of femicide to educate about the gender based violence and inform the general public about the femicide as a phenomenon in our society.⚠️
