NOTHING EXCLUSIVE ABOUT WOMEN’S FEAR

⚠️Yesterday, Serbian tabloid “Informer” published an interview with the serial rapist who was, only a week ago, released from prison after serving his 15-year-long sentence.

❕The interview focused on the question “Will you commit the crime again?”.

Rather than in any way contributing to the understanding of the phenomenon, the interview supports the, already alarmingly present, “rape culture” in Serbia by sending message to the audience that possible victims have a power to prevent such acts from happening.

👉🏻Overall, the interview only brings harm to ex-victims of this men and other victims of sexual harassment, and fosters fear among women in general.

🗣️”Informer’s” owner and editor-in-chief, Dragan Vucicevic, stated that the motive for this interview was simply journalism, but we are wondering what kind of journalism gives a platform to a rapist which clearly sends the message that appropriate consequence for rape in Serbia doesn’t really exist.

🫵🏻On the other hand, we urge all of you not to click on the content “Informer” produces on this topic in order not to help them gain reach any bigger than they already gained by publishing a sensationalistic headline.

💰The only goal such headlines and content has is clicks and profit.

✊🏼It is important to know that we have the power to report this interview to regulatory body and to urge the social media to take down this type of content.
