CHURCH DOESN’T HAVE THE RIGHT TO DISCRIMINATE

Gender-sensitive language does not stop stealing the attention of the general public in Serbia.

Although part of it, as well as a number of experts and professionals, is still against the use of gender-sensitive language, the Law on Gender Equality, which mandates the use of gender-sensitive language in Serbia, is still in force in this country.✊🏼

🤝Public debate is an integral part of democratic processes and it is desirable to hear all interested parties on all important social issues, however, discrimination and oppression of women (or anyone!) goes against all the values of a free, democratic and equal society.

❗️The influence that the Patriarch and the Serbian Orthodox Church have on Serbian society comes with a great responsibility for the spoken word, especially when they speak about important topics such as women’s rights and gender equality.
